DescriptionLibratherm offers microcontroller-based Molten Metal Pyrometer models LMI-2014, which are designed to measure accurately the temperature of ferrous and non-ferrous molten metals. The measurement of this temperature is a critical process since the expendable thermocouple tip is dipped for merely 3 to 4 seconds in the molten metal and then withdrawn. In this short measurement time, the accurate reading is to be captured and simultaneously the operator is to be guided through the measurement cycle by audio/visual alarms for Thermocouple Continuity, Measurement in Progress, and Measurement Over. LMI-2014/LMI-2018 is a combination of 3 independent Libratherm models (LMI-2010 + LRU-2010-4” OR 8” + LLC-2010) combined in a single enclosure. Additionally, both models are available with single-sided or double-sided display versions.
Any error during measurement due to thermocouple open conditions is immediately detected and informed by activating the audio/visual alarm.
SPOT Measurement (SM): LMI-2014 are designed to measure and display the molten metal temperature in a very short time interval. The pyrometer is rugged, reliable, field-proven, and very easy to operate. Users can select the desired type of thermocouples (K, R, S, or B type) and also set other parameters using the front panel heavy-duty keyboard. During measurement, the indicator ignores the slag temperature and the Average or Plateau reading is determined using the advanced algorithm, and the same is latched and displayed on the bright 7 segments 4” or 8” red LED display. The last 100 readings are stored in the built-in memory and can be recalled as and when required.
SMS Alert (Optional facility): In today’s era of mobile communication, the user is interested in getting all the plant measurement data on his or her cell phone. Libratherm offers an additional facility for generating SMS alerts on every spot measurement. Whenever the SM is taken by the operator, the SMS alert will be sent to a maximum of 5 pre-registered cell phone numbers. The SMS format contains the final Temperature Reading and the Heat Number or can be customized as per the user’s requirement. For this facility, users have to provide 1 no. of their SIM card subscribed for only SMS facility, from any of the available GSM service providers.

The final reading available from LMI-2010 can be transmitted on RS485 2 wire bus to this large remote display model LRU-2010, which indicates the latched reading on either 4” or 8” height red 7 segment LED display. With single LMI-2010, maximum 4 nos. of LRU-2010 can be connected in serial multi-drop configuration. LRU-2010 works on 230VAC.
